After contemplating whether or not my work actually conforms to a particular style, I decided to play around with whatever popped into my imagination and comparing it to other popular artists' work to see if they had subliminally influenced my work. I had this idea of creating a doll that featured nightmares from people's dreams. She began with a stick-like figure that towered over everyone and everything. This would represent the fear of heights. She currently has a very steampunk/gothic style as that seemed most appropriate for this kind of horrific idea.
I'm still in the process of inking the lineart and may even leave her uncoloured as the sharpness and contrast of the black and white is more startling and strikes more fear into the audience than colourful areas. After getting through a hefty chunk of drawing this little doll, I realised that she looked very Tim Burton-esque in her facial features and long, spindly legs and arms (especially the long, claw-like fingers resting on her dress). I think he may have influenced my work along with my well-loved Manga/Anime style.
