OUAN502 - PPP2:
As I possibly mentioned before, my chosen area of self improvement for PPP is modelling on Maya. I discovered through a previous module that Maya is an incredibly difficult piece of software and I had many, many tedious nights learning this program. However, I did not want to let it defeat me and so thought it would be appropriate to give it a go for some personal practice. My aim for this module is to at least create a model of which I can use for further work, or simply just to put in my portfolio and be proud of it.
So far, I have been looking at 3D models on Pinterest, different modelling techniques in YouTube and Vimeo, and tutorials on various other sites. I would love to be able to create a fully shaded and textured model of a human character as this would allow me to learn more about anatomy from a 3D perspective which I see as being more useful than simply drawing 2D models all the time. Having another axis to work in makes things really hard, but allows you to learn a great deal more in a different way, in my opinion.
Firstly, I may want to create some sketches/character designs to use as reference in Maya so I know what proportions my character will have, and what they will look like. I would like to create a character for a 12-18 year old audience, for a fantasy video game such as the likes of Skyrim, Dungeons and Dragons. I believe this is not an approach I have taken on a professional level before so would be of use to me.
