So, my partner's uncle Chris as you may or may not know works for Rockstar Games Leeds which to me is super exciting as I get loads of cool info on any upcoming DLCs and game updates etc. Recently I bumped into him at my partner's 18th birthday party which was a great surprise as we never really had the chance to talk up until now. So, after much conversation and many questions as to how he got the job that he did, what he needed to do to get into Rockstar and so forth, I learned a fair bit about getting into the games industry.
I asked him if there was any work experience or internships going as I was incredibly keen to learn the ways of Rockstar. Although he couldn't offer me any at the time, he did tell me a bit about what programs the company used, what techniques they liked and even gave me some free stickers and a t shirt! The rest of the evening didn't go as smoothly, but I was happy that he offered me a disc containing 3DS Max, a popular 3D modelling tool used by Rockstar that he said I should learn. I'm keen to start learning some coding/scripting in order for me to progress in game.
This isn't mine personally, but here is a small example of what can be done on the software using the poly tool, faces and other various tools.
