OUAN402 - PPP - Absorb: Reflective Practice

OUAN402 - PPP:

1) Why I chose to study on this programme...

- Wanted to be a character designer since the age of five.
- Have a skeptical feeling that I was born with this skill so therefore must pursue it.
- Enjoy entertaining people no matter who they are!
- Want to learn to effectively tell stories.
- Wanted to put my name out there and become well-known in the professional industry!

2) What I want to learn during my time on the programme...

- The art of storytelling!
- Entertaining a wide range of audiences.
- Learning new styles and techniques.
- Learn the complicated method of scriptwriting...
- To become more persuasive in the sense that someone might offer me a job... (Social skills)

3) What are my strengths?

- I feel (because friends and even strangers have told me so) that I am a great entertainer and have been since I was little!
- I manage to create something positive and enjoyable out of everything that will at least raise a few smiles!
- Apparently, (correct me if I'm wrong...) I'm fairly good at drawing figures, people and animals - cartoon or not.
- I am well organised and manage my time effectively.
- I am incredibly enthusiastic! After all, animators HAVE to be animated! Nobody likes a boring animator! The more eccentric the better!

4) What do I want to improve on?

- Being less open and insensitive in personality and work. (I'm incredibly controversial and not afraid to speak my mind!)
- Toning down my personality sometimes. I need to understand that not everyone wants to be as happy as me.
- Drawing landscapes, scenery, buildings etc.
- Animating of course! Scriptwriting, coding, meshes for characters, all that jazz!
- I want to improve my number of professional contacts. Sometimes, it's about who you know and not what you know...

5) What ways will I evaluate my progress?

- I will engage in "crits" so that I can receive valuable peer feedback.
- I will try and be independent at times by standing back from my work and analysing it realistically against my targets/goals.
- I will compare ideas and samples of work against other peers and maybe even students from other colleges.
- I may set goals and targets i.e. "this has to be done by this date and time". This will allow me to evaluate in steps, not just once at the end which may lead to me having to redo everything.
- I may produce a contingency-style plan where I will note all possible things that may go have a negative impact. I will then try to avoid these to insure minimal "silly mistakes".
