The creation of a showreel was creeping up really quickly and without any form of branding, we would simple be nameless, faceless animators. We needed to get ourselves out there as someone new, quirky and exciting. I like the idea of branding yourself with a nickname rather than your full name as it gives you an air of mystery, but allows you to create an identity that can be solely professional and creative.
As far as I'm aware, we're going to be doing a few workshops on creating things like business cards, avatars, logos and showreel stings after Easter. This will be incredibly helpful to me as I've been thinking about this for a long time now and would like to start branding myself as a professional - despite not having a lot to show off on my showreel...
Here as some rather lovely logos and designs that have inspired me in branding myself. I think simplicity is key, but when you're trying to stand out from the crowd, a fantastic logo is key to helping it stick in people's minds.

These all feature a simple graphic with mostly separate text. It is clear, easy to read and understand, and have logical colour schemes. They're not too forward and harsh, they work well. There are elements of some graphic-textual cohesion which helps the logo look more artistic.
This by far is one of my favourite company logos! I regularly browse this store's site as it is quirky, bright, well designed and relevant to what it is trying to sell. I wish to create something with this sort of layout in mind - clear title/brand name followed by catchy tagline and hand-drawn image in the middle. This way, your eye is drawn to the centre but still takes into account the rest of the image. It is a simple layout but to me is far more effective than the above images as it has a hand-drawn feel to it, more animator-appropriate.
The logos below are some other favourite brands of mine. I think design has a lot to do with whether or not you go back to the website or shop and a catchy logo that's well designed or has a theme helps you understand the product of company better. "Boring" websites and logos don't really appeal to me as they're not fun and attractive. However, they might come across as more professional to some as the designs below might seem too childish.
