OUAN502 - PPP2: Areas of The Industry

OUAN502 - Areas of The Industry:

We had a very interesting PPP session the other day that focused on the different areas within animation. This may have seemed self explanatory at first, but actually there are so many different roles when it comes to the creation and final production. It all has to start with an idea and there are so many people involved of which watching the credits for a film, I would not have even begun to imagine what their roles were. This session cleared up a lot of confusion surrounding the job titles and responsibilities.

After much thought, becoming a producer would seem something I'm interested in. I quite like being the mother hen of the group, and phone skills are something I've been trained in since I was a toddler as my mother would always insist I spoke to people (even family members!) in a professional and respectable manner on the phone and in person. Obviously, I am no longer a toddler, yet I have grown to understand that animating is not for me, and organisation, art-based work, designing, and communicating are more my thing. There could be a number of roles I could comfortably work in if given the chance, though saying and doing are two different things.
